The Honda FK8 Type R intake is the result of extensive design iterations with dyno testing and flow analysis. It was developed to achieve two objectives – 1) maintain low inlet temperatures; and 2) eliminate turbo inlet path restriction. The first objective was achieved by encasing the filter within the carbon airbox and using the factory seal in the hood to block heat ingress from the engine. Since the intake is located directly behind the radiator, it is important to ensure the filter is not exposed. Exposure would result in power loss due to high IAT. The second objective was achieved by removing the flexible tube and optimizing the inlet path with a venturi stack connected directly to the filter. Additionally, we added a second inlet to the airbox with a scoop that draws air from the inner wing area. This nearly doubles the total cross-sectional area the turbo can draw in compared to the single inlet of the stock system. Our carbon airbox enclosure is designed to maximize the available volume and block all heat sources. The result is FK8 Type R's performance gains and aesthetics that are among the best in the industry.
It is introduced on Ameblo's "M&M HONDA's Honda Honki."
