The floating brake rotor (front only) is fixed to the bell housing (which is fixed to the hub body once the tire is attached) and the disc rotor is not fixed but moves by about 0.2 mm due to the bobbin (floating) on the bell housing. The normal type is fixed and naturally does not move. This movement can cause the judder to escape during braking and make it harder for vibration to occur. Rotors with a slit design are prone to judder, so they may be made to float. This structure was first adopted in Nissan GTRs for motorsport vehicles (GT races) and commercially available cars.
